Otago

The vineyards of Otago are the southernmost in the world, the highest in altitude in New Zealand and a testament to the pioneering skills of the first viticulturists who fist saw the potential in the region more than 120 years ago.

With its beginning in the gold rush, fine wine, and especially Pinot Noir, is the new gold in this region. The past 5 years has seen rapid expansion in the fledgling Otago wine industry, founded on the successes of a small number of vineyards developed and while the area is still considered small when compared to world scales it is big in its right as a serious world contender and exceptional wine region.
